SALT - Salt and Light Together - for schools
When Nehemiah returned to rebuild Jerusalem he must have been daunted when he noted the extent of devastation that had reduced the city and its walls to rubble. Like Gideon facing the Midianites, or David facing Goliath, he probably felt completely inadequate when faced with the enormity of the challenge facing him.
In the face of this challenge he took his first steps and trusted in God to help him complete what God had called him to do. When Nehemiah called on the people to help they responded and, working together, they were able to redeem the wreckage of the city in record time.
Like Nehemiah in his day, we too are faced with an ovewhelming challenge - how to rebuild the foundations and walls of our schools and redeem them from the rot and decay which has been plaguing them?
We are not called to face this task alone. We have each other and we have the Lord of Hosts, Creator of All That Is, who empowers us with His Spirit and stands alongside, behind and around us. He is more interested in the rebuilding than we are. His children are being mistreated and He will more than participate in their rescue and redemption.
Not all is lost. There are signs of hope and potential turnaround. Every month we read of encouraging reports of young folks who are seeking meaning and purpose where the deceitful narratives they have been exposed to have led them to delusion and despair:

Jesus calls His people and His church to be Salt and Light in a society desperately in need of redemption and rescue. Salt to halt rot and decay and Light to push back the darkness.
Like Nehemiah, lets work together as a team. Lets be on guard and stand firm against the wiles of the Evil one. And then, having done all, let's stand, trusting in the Lord who will help us when we call on Him.
