This Month...

  • This month we look at the third of the five Core Values which Back2Basics encourages and promotes, namely Secure Learning Environments.   

  • Thank you so much to those who made generous financial contributions in December. This is much appreciated. Our financial needs are ongoing. If you have not yet done so and wish to, you can find instructions on how to contribute, at the end of this newsletter.

  • We stand at the beginning of a new year with all of the promise and potential that it holds. We trust that this will be a good year for children and families in Durham Region.

  • Imagine if, when schoolkids were being taught about their so called abortion rights, it was also required that they be taught about the science of fetal development. Check out Baby Olivia, a tool recently developed in the USA to do just that. Click Here.... How might this impact youth who engage in unsafe sex and their decisions about whether to abort or not?

  • Lax discipline by school authorities is the leading cause of violence in Peel Region schools.Click Here...

  • No one is safe:

  1. Sadly, even in a Catholic school, students who speak up against transgenderism and girls rights to their own washrooms can be cancelled too. Click Here....

What’s Happening at DDSB and DCDSB?

DDSB Concerned Parents - , an informal networking group, are calling for our two school boards to provide evidence that the Board's DEI initiatives are being effective in improving academic performance, safety and well being for the student population of Durham public schools. Ideas Matter – the OSSTF (Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation) put out a regular magazine for their members. Worth noting – in their second issue of 2024 11 out of 14 articles dealt with promoting so called progressive ideologies.

Noticeably absent – any mention to teachers that their primary role is to give children entrusted to their care, skills and knowledge which will prepare them for success in life and to compete in a competitive world?

  • Letters and stories to the Editor – the Back2Basics editorial team welcome letters on any topic pertaining to excellence in education and children’s school experiences.

    etters and stories must be no longer than 250 words. The writer must state full name and city of residence, although this will not be published. To be publishable the letters need to be polite and constructive.
