Welcome to our inaugural edition of the B2B Bulletin, our monthly newsletter. 

What is Back2Basics (B2B), and what are we trying to achieve? 

Very simply put, “B2B is a Christian organization dedicated to the protection of our children within the schools of Durham Region, by sourcing and encouraging Trustees who support and promote our Core Values.” 

We trust you will find this first edition of the B2B Bulletin to be informative and helpful in understanding our Core Values.

B2B Core Values

We Encourage and Promote:

1)  Parental Rights and Input

  • Parental responsibility to safeguard their children from detrimental influences

  • Parental collaborative consultation and input without fear of repercussions

  • School Boards providing timely, transparent information to parents regarding student education and activities

2)  Educational Success   

  • Emphasis on reading, writing, arithmetic, arts, science, technology and physical education

  • Implementation of benchmarks and testing to assess student progress

3)  Secure Learning Environments

  • Secure learning environments and peaceful co-existence regardless of differences.

4)  Biological Gender Integrity

  • The widely established scientific consensus and global recognition of biological gender as either male or female

  • Secure access to private spaces, based on biological gender, such as public washrooms and changerooms

5)  Civic Flags Only

  • Exclusive display of National, Provincial and Municipal flags or symbols on or about all school property

  • Despite the encouraging developments introduced by premiers in New Brunswick (Blaine Higgs), Saskatchewan (Scott Moe) and Alberta (Danielle Smith) to protect parental rights, Doug Ford has indicated he has no intention of introducing such protections for parents and children in Ontario.   • Bill C-63, the proposed Online Harms Act, is an alarming development and is currently at Second Reading in the House of Commons. If this bill is allowed to pass, it will severely hamper freedom of speech in our democracy. Under this bill, if one fears that someone “might engage in hate speech in the future” it will be possible to lodge a complaint against that person, with potentially significant penalties ensuing.
