National CPR and AED Awareness Week, June 1-7

Spotlighting how lives can be saved if more Americans know CPR and how to use an AED. Did you know about 70 percent of out-of-hospital cardiac arrests happen in homes? If you are called on to give CPR in an emergency, you will most likely be trying to save the life of someone you love. Be the difference for your parent, spouse, or child. What if it were them?

On December 13, 2007, Congress unanimously passed a resolution to set aside June 1-7 each year as National CPR and AED Awareness Week to spotlight how lives can be saved if more Americans know CPR and how to use an AED. Our campaign reinforces these skills but also places importance on the willingness of bystanders to act in a cardiac arrest emergency.

We invite you to celebrate National CPR and AED Awareness Week in your community.

Video below: Hands-Only CPR Lifesaver Mashup

Learn the two simple steps of Hands-Only CPR if you witness a teen or adult suddenly collapse: Call 9-1-1 and Push Hard and Fast in the Center of the Chest until Help Arrives. Please share our video of this family dinner scene turned disco party as they dance to Street Corner Symphony’s a cappella version of “Stayin’ Alive”, which has the same beats per minute as the ideal rate of chest compressions during CPR. Please like and share this important lifesaving video with your family and friends.
