Dear ZAA Members,

It’s finally starting to warm up in Ohio, and I hope you are all seeing some sunshine!

I think the first order of business is to make sure that you are aware we have entered our election season for ZAA Board of Directors and Code of Conduct Committee, and so we are seeking recommendations for both. Please make sure you submit your recommendations (can be self-recommended) by May 1^st! You can find the recommendation form and additional details of the process below.

I wanted to share with you the current list of conferences I will be attending (and presenting at most) on behalf of ZAA. At the end of April, I will be attending the 2025 Ag Alliance Stakeholders Summit in DC. Then the first week of May I will be presenting at the 2025 AMMPA Conference in Atlanta. AMMPA has become a great partner with ZAA, and we will host a reciprocal presentation at our annual conference! Mid-May, I will be attending the ISZAW at Brookfield Zoo. This is an international conference focused on animal welfare that will be great for networking and promoting ZAA’s accreditation standards. Then, in mid-June, I will be presenting at the MAZA conference in Bismark, again promoting ZAA accreditation. As you see, it will be a busy summer, but I’m so proud to represent ZAA at these events😊

And speaking of events, I recently had the pleasure, along with Melissa Shepherd and Dr. Eric Trager, to visit Tim Morrow and his crew at the San Antonio Zoo. OH MY GOODNESS, what an event our conference is going to be! As a reminder, our annual conference will be held Oct 1-4^th, 2025, in lovely San Antonio, TX.  Our welcome party will be the evening of the 1^st, with two full days of conference on Oct 2^nd and 3^rd, featuring for the first time two Keynote Speakers, Dr. Mark Flint and Michelle Pardo! Then zoo day will be on Oct 4^th, hosted by the San Antonio Zoo. I’m pleased to say that ZAA’s award banquet that evening will be the first major event to be held in SAZ’s new event space, which is breathtakingly beautiful! Additionally, we are planning an optional pre-trip event on Oct 1^st to visit two ZAA accredited facilities – Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch and Animal World & Snake Farm Zoo. Please hold these dates on your calendar because you will not want to miss a moment. Additional details are coming soon!
