In our first newsletter of the year, we're highlighting a range of digital tools to support self-management. These include a free online course for people living with gout, along with apps that help with food choices, ADHD management and understanding medical terms in Tongan and English.

Gout Busters online course: dispel the myths about gout

  • A free, NZ-based online course for people living with gout, or whānau supporting someone with gout.

  • The course is less than 5 minutes of learning a day for 8 days.

  • It includes short videos, a ‘Gout Guide’ booklet, medicine factsheets and more.

  • Resources available in English, te reo Māori, Samoan and Tongan.

Get wise about kai

  • The NZ-based KaiWise app helps people understand food labels and make more informed food choices.

  • Users scan the barcode of packaged foods to get instant nutrition information, the visual traffic light display makes comparing products easy.

  • With growing awareness and discussion about ADHD, many people are looking for practical support tools.

  • See our range of ADHD apps to help support organisation, routines and daily tasks

  • We also provide guidance on how to choose and use them safely.

Tala 'Uhinga Fakafaito’o: Bilingual medical glossary app

  • This is a bilingual glossary of medical and preventive health terms in Tongan and English.

  • It includes audio pronunciation and labelled medical illustrations covering 22 body systems.

  • It's a useful app to help explain medical terms during consultations.
