Weekly Newsletter: Lesson Learned From Little Humans!
Dear {{contact.first_name}}
Happy Friday!
Here we are in October and the new school year is truly underway! By now the children have figured out how to get their individual needs met quite often, not in appropriate and acceptable ways, stress levels are significantly higher than when school first started. The classrooms with the most challenging behaviors have one thing in common the teacher/ child relationship is like water/ oil. They are just not connecting or understanding each other.
I did an in-person observation at a school this week, let me set the stage: the classroom was chaotic, loud, with lots of children screaming, whining, yelling, and crying, every time they didn’t get what they wanted they screamed and screeched. To be honest I was worn out after being in that room for an hour. I had a headache, I was exhausted. Sadly, this is not an unusual classroom, there are so many with extreme behaviors right now.
In my weekly coaching membership, we support situations mentioned here. I help the teachers to evaluate the “root cause” of the behavior by offering effective and individualized strategies to turn things around, replacing unwanted behaviors with acceptable behaviors.
For example, during the debrief I shared some strategies with the teachers here’s a few of them. Watch the full video for all 7 of them.
1. Connection before correction – focus on ask / tell strategy.
2. Have brain breaks throughout the day every 30 minutes it reduces overstimulation calms the nervous system.
3. Introduce a noise-meter in the room.
In my coaching membership we use the latest brain research to support young children. We meet once a week, for 2 hours teachers/ administrators jump in as their schedule allows. Teachers ask their individual questions about the challenges they are facing in their classroom or about specific children they are struggling with. I provide individualized support with practical strategies they can implement, transforming their classroom from stressful to joyful! Weekly support provides accountability and helps teachers to change habits/ patterns in the children and themselves. I have had 100% success rates so far with all the schools I have worked at, resulting in reduced frequency and intensity of unwanted behaviors.
If you are a director/ owner, you can buy the membership to help your entire school. It’s like having access to a private consultant without paying their salary! If you are ready to have a stress-free school year, click here to learn more about the membership today!
