CHARLESTON, W.Va. — In a historic and speedy decision, the West Virginia State Supreme Court issued an order today that dissolved the injunction granted on July 22, 2022 against the HOPE Scholarship. This new program will give West Virginia families flexibility and choices when it comes to their child’s education.

“I am still in shock of how quickly this decision happened,” Love Your School grassroots coordinator, Kim Dully said. “I am excited and ready to help families make the best decisions for their family.”

Love Your School has been on the ground helping parents navigate the eligibility and application process of the HOPE Scholarship since the program was announced. We know that many families who qualified and were prepared to use the HOPE Scholarship for the coming school year faced yet another setback earlier this summer.

“The HOPE Scholarship was a promise to West Virginia families and students that they would finally have access to education opportunities so they can thrive. Today, that promise was fulfilled,” said Leah Peck, grassroots coordinator for Love Your School WV. “We are thankful for the Court’s decision that will allow parents to make the best decisions for their child when it comes to their education.”

Now with this historic decision handed down by the Court, West Virginia families now have access to education options that fit their children’s unique needs. Education is a catalyst for generational change and thanks to the HOPE Scholarship, so many families will realize a once out-of-reach dream: to see their child thrive in a school option they love.
