Summer Camps, New Horses, Events & More!

Howdy from
Full Circle Riding Academy!

We guide you from novice horse enthusiast to competitive equestrian, and ultimately to mentor and leader, creating a full-circle journey that fosters a dynamic horse-first mentality while building a positive and supportive equestrian community.

We said Goodbye to...

Rey, Cheyenne, Zip,
and Wyoming

These incredible mares were with us for several years and began showing signs they were ready to retire. Stephanie found an incredible family with a luxuriously large property that wanted a few horses for their grandchildren to ride on occasion.

These mares were able to stay together, work less, and enjoy a new paradise. We know they will enjoy their new phase of life, and we will cherish the time we had with them.

Welcome to the barn...

Annie!
This adorable bay mare came from a cute family whose little girls rode her for many years. She has a peppy trot and a lope that feels like riding on a cloud! She will be slowly introduced into our lesson program in March.

Dear FCRA Community,

Our mission statement is driving us to purchase horses that will add to our lesson horse repertoire and also connect with students to fulfill dreams of competing and ownership. New horses are always fun and exciting for both staff and students!

As we bring these new horses onto our property, we want to encourage students and family to take precautions around horses that aren't in the lesson program yet. Horses take a few months to settle into a new environment and will often react to unfamiliar sights and smells. They may nibble fingers for food, defend their territory around other horses, and resort to more wild instincts until they are comfortable.

Horses are not naturally safe creatures. Humans domesticate and desensitize these animals through years and years of training, and every horse we purchase has unknown history and experiences. Staff work for weeks to test out horses and determine if the horse is safe for lessons. Criteria for lessons horses include:

  • Standing still in cross ties

  • Following kids on a lead rope

  • Patiently standing still in stalls, for mounting, and at the top of the arena

  • Walking on the fence with little guidance

  • Stopping and steering with little pressure

  • Tolerating unbalanced riders

  • Transitioning from walk to trot to lope only when asked, and smoothly

  • Trailering and standing calmly for vet, farriers, and staff

It will often take several weeks for us to decide if a horse will be added to our lesson program, and they won't all make the cut. We would love to explain the steps we are taking with each horse for curious students, but please be patient as we thoroughly assess these horses. You entrust us with the safety of your children and yourselves, and we take that responsibility very seriously. Thank you for your support through this process!

Always,
Stephanie & Cheyanne
