Dear FCRA Community,
As we strive to fulfill our mission statement, we'd like to remain transparent about some changes that are occuring at the barn. We have said goodbye to many horses this year and we are slowly bringing new 4-legged friends to the barn to join our crew.
The job of a lesson horse is not easy and is not for every horse. Students start off unbalanced, loud, and narrow-minded when they begin taking lessons. Our horses teach these kids to be balanced, soft, and empathetic over the course of several months. These lessons take a tole on horses mentally and physically.
It is for this reason that we are adapting our mindset: the role of a lesson horse is a temporary job, not a career. And once our horses have worked for us for a few years, we will dedicate our time to finding them a nice family to move on to, a family that can spoil them with love and partnership long-term.
Our hope is that our horses will make a special bond with students in our barn who will then desire to purchase our horses and make them their own. Please keep this in mind as horses come through our program: they are all available for leasing and potentially purchasing if we feel your family is the right fit.
Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns. And rest assured every horse that has moved on from FCRA this year has found incrediblly loving homes.
Always,
Stephanie & Cheyanne
