Shaping IDA21 for Africa's Future

The World Bank Group-IMF Annual Meetings in October was an opportunity for civil society to engage with government leaders and International Development Association (IDA) stakeholders on the 21st IDA replenishment. IDA is the largest source of grants and low-cost loans for the world's 75 poorest countries. WACI Health has been working in partnership with civil society organizations and networks to input into the policy and financial package of IDA21 along with advocating for a robust IDA replenishment. We intervened at the IDA Forum alongside colleagues at the ACTION Global Health Partnership and endorsed a civil society brief by the Pandemic Action Network (PAN) and Resilience Action Network Africa (RANA). We urge IDA21 stakeholders to effectively support the needs of African countries in the policy package, particularly through prioritizing sustainable investments in human capital, health, and nutrition.
