In today's issue, I share some key takeaways from a recent interview between Nathan Latka, the host of Daily Interviews with SaaS Founders, and Yash Chavan, the CEO of Saral. They discussed how he hit $30k MRR in 6 months with unique SaaS cold email scripts at 24 years old.

Yash is a marketer at heart who dropped out of engineering college to work in sales and eventually fell in love with growing SaaS companies at his agency. Today, he's working on a company called Saral — an influencer marketing platform for e-commerce brands

About Saral

Saral is a pioneering influencer marketing platform specifically tailored for e-commerce brands. This platform has swiftly emerged as a game-changer in the influencer marketing space. Their core mission is to simplify and optimize the intricate process of connecting e-commerce companies with influencers.

Saral functions as a comprehensive search engine, enabling e-commerce brands to effortlessly discover and collaborate with influencers who can promote their products or services.

Unlike traditional influencer platforms, Saral eliminates the need for brands to find and contact influencers, negotiate contracts, and manage the tracking and fulfillment of promotional activities.

They now serve 103 customers, each paying $299 per month for their services. However, when it comes to larger brands that require access to an extensive influencer network, their monthly revenue can soar even higher, reaching up to $34k.

PS Yash and his team of six have crafted Ssaral to address the pain points of e-commerce brands engaged in influencer marketing.

Challenges

Influencer marketing for e-commerce brands is sort of a marketplace problem.

Yash opted for a different approach—a search engine. From their prior experience in influencer marketing, they recognized the costly nature of manually finding, contacting, contracting, tracking, and collaborating with influencers. They wanted to intricate process into a single platform.

Advice to Other Founders

Leverage the power of "doing things that don't scale"

Instead of spending years building out a product, Yash pre-sold it to five customers before even writing a line of code. This allowed him to validate the idea, gather critical feedback, and refine the product efficiently. Don't be afraid to roll up your sleeves and engage directly with potential users or customers.

Iterate pricing strategically based on customer feedback.

Yash started with a low price point of $99 and gradually increased it as he gained more insights and feedback from his customers. Start with a price that feels right but remain open to adjusting it as you learn more about your customers' willingness to pay.

Consider alternatives to traditional funding.

Yash's experience with seeking funding from Tiny Seed illustrates that there are alternative paths to funding your SaaS venture. Bootstrap as long as you can, and consider seeking strategic investments from industry players or even your own customers. Don't feel pressured to follow the traditional VC route.

Bonus

  1. When asked about his favorite business book, Yash recommended "100 Million Dollar Offers" by Alex Hormozi.

  2. Yash has a keen interest in three remarkable leaders: Becker, Brunson, and Barry.

  3. Regarding his preferred online tool for business development, Yash places great value on the use of a CRM system.

  4. Yash shared that he wishes he had known the importance of patience and perseverance when he was 20. He emphasize the significance of consistently showing up, knowing that results will eventually follow.

TL;DR

Saral is what companies use to quickly find a list of influencers to promote their brand. Yash built this, and they're doing $34k in MRR. The sole founder owns 100% and got his first customer back in December of 2022 using Apollo to build an email list. He uses LinkedIn Sales Navigator to focus on influencer marketing managers at e-commerce brands. Ultimately, they reach out with Loom videos, Figma screenshots, etc., to get 15 minutes on their calendar to land his first five pre-sold paying customers. They are scaling nicely, 10k per month with his team of six as he looks to scale.
