In today's issue, I share some key takeaways from Testimonial Chief Marketing Officer Guillaume Bardet‘s presentation at Nathan Latka's conference “SaaS Open 2023” in New York. He discussed how he helped a bootstrapped founder go from Twitter only to omnichannel marketing to grow past $1M in ARR.

Guillaume has experience working with various companies in the tech and marketing space. He has worked with musicians like Avicii and Gramatik, with AppSumo through its CEO Noah Kagan, and currently collaborating with Damon Chen, the founder of Testimonial.

About Testimonial

Founded in 2020, Testimonial is the platform that provides the easiest way to collect and display testimonials. With 3-lines of HTML code, you can embed all your testimonials to any platform, including Shopify, WordPress, Wix, Quora, and many more!

Not only text and video testimonials—if you have testimonials on social media (e.g. Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok etc), video hosting platforms (e.g. YouTube, Vimeo), and other review sites (e.g. G2, Google, Capterra, Yelp etc), Testimonial can help you manage all your social proof in a single place.

Advice to Other Founders

Streamline user interactions by making processes seamless.
Remove friction and automation by investing in alternative domain variations. If your company name is unique, securing related domains can prevent user confusion. It's a small investment that can prevent potential traffic leaks.

Enhancing user experience doesn't always require new features.
Take a cue from Testimonial's pricing page redesign. If you notice a certain feature isn't getting the attention it deserves, reposition it for better visibility. Sometimes, a small change in presentation can lead to a significant uptick in conversions.

Cleverly use credits and limits.
When it comes to engaging existing users, think about creative ways to encourage upgrades. Consider offering limited access in the basic plan and providing more value in the premium plans. This nudges users to upgrade, ensuring they're getting the most out of your tool.

Share your journey publicly.
Whether through blog posts, social media, or even newsletters, documenting your progress and lessons can attract an audience invested in your success. If you're a developer, for example, sharing your coding journey can forge connections with fellow developers and potential users.
