Dear Avondale Members,
When we talk about Avondale, it is easy to think first about the golf course, the clubhouse, a favorite hole, or a great meal on the patio.
But Avondale is much more than a place.
Avondale is the people who make it special.
It is the group that has played together every Saturday morning for years. It is couples enjoying nine holes after work. It is our operation 36 juniors learning the game for the first time. It is friendships formed around a dinner table, a tournament, or a conversation on the putting green.
It is our employees arriving before sunrise to prepare the golf course, staying late after an event, preparing meals, welcoming members, and taking care of the hundreds of details that make a day at Avondale feel effortless.
And it is generations of members who have helped build the Club we enjoy today.
Over the coming year, you are going to hear more from us about Avondale—where we have been, what makes this Club special today, and ultimately where we want to go together.
Before we talk about the future, however, we believe it is important to start with something much simpler:
Why does Avondale matter to us?
During the next several weeks, we will be sharing stories, photographs and short videos highlighting the people and experiences that make Avondale what it is.
You will hear from fellow members about Why I Love Avondale.
You will get a behind-the-scenes look at A Day at Avondale and see everything that happens before the first tee shot is hit, the first meal is served, or the first member walks through the door.
Most importantly, we hope you will see your own Avondale story reflected in these messages.
Golf clubs are built with grass, buildings and infrastructure.
Great clubs are built with people, traditions and shared experiences.
That is Avondale.
And as we begin thinking about the next chapter of our Club, that is where our conversation should begin.
Thank you for being part of it.
Sincerely,
Dean Wilson
