Transforming the Avondale Member Experience
Dear Members,
If you've been around the club over the past couple of years, you've probably noticed that a lot has been changing at Avondale. Some of those changes are easy to see; the start of the first phase of concrete cart paths, new level teeing grounds, renovated bunkers, weekend grass driving range, or another successful event.
Others happen behind the scenes, but they're just as important.
When I talk about improving the member experience, I'm talking about everything that makes Avondale feel like your club.
It starts with the golf course.
We've invested in course renovations including the cart paths, the driving range, and continue to put resources into course conditions. Brandon Bubar and our golf course team take tremendous pride in what they do, and every improvement is made with the goal of making your round more enjoyable.
But Avondale is much more than a golf course.
We've worked to create more reasons to spend time at the club, whether that's enjoying dinner with friends, attending one of our social events, bringing your family to a celebration, or playing in one of our tournaments.
This year alone, we've seen incredible participation in our Member-Guest, couples’ events, ladies' events, junior programs, and many of our clubhouse activities.
We've also continued to invest in our food and beverage program by expanding menu offerings, adding healthier options, and creating experiences that make the clubhouse a place members want to gather; not just after a round, but throughout the week.
Communication has been another area of focus. We've worked to keep members better informed through emails, text messages, newsletters, social media, and focus group meetings. We know good communication builds trust, and we want you to understand not only what's happening today, but where the club is headed.
One of the most valuable tools we have is your feedback. Our recent Member Satisfaction Survey gave us great insight into what's working and where we can improve. A full report of the findings will soon be published to the membership.
Many of the changes you've already seen over the past few years came directly from member suggestions, and we'll continue to use your input to help guide future decisions. We are excited to invite all members to our Food and Beverage Focus group on August 1st at 9 AM.
In conclusion, some of our biggest improvements happen behind the scenes. We've strengthened our budgeting process, invested in technology resources, improved internal operations, and are working through updates to our governance structure. Those aren't always the most exciting topics, but they help ensure Avondale remains financially strong and well-positioned for years to come.
The reality is that there is no finish line.
Member expectations change, the club evolves, and we're always looking for ways to improve. Our job is to keep moving forward while staying true to what has made Avondale such a special place for generations.
On behalf of our Board of Directors and our entire staff, thank you for your continued support, your ideas, and your involvement.
We appreciate the opportunity to serve this membership every day, and we're excited about where Avondale is headed.
Sincerely,
Austin Westphal, PGA
