You may have noticed some splotchiness and a darker appearance on many of our greens recently. This is the result of a carefully applied growth regulator designed to target weaker strands of Poa annua(a common invasive grass in putting surfaces) and allow our creeping bent grass to have a competitive advantage against the Poa.
It can temporarily impact the appearance of the greens, especially in areas where Poa is more dominant. In this case, it did its job a little too well in the short term.
The good news is that the greens are already on the road to recovery. You’ll begin to see improved consistency and healthier turf across the surfaces in the coming week. Our goal, as always, is to provide top-tier putting conditions, and this application is a key step in ensuring the long-term quality and playability of our greens.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we continue to invest in the future health of our golf course.
