Gamepad Tester
Gamepad Tester has no account and never uploads your controller input or test results. The app does contain Google Firebase (analytics and configuration), Google Play Billing, and advertising SDKs from AppLovin and Google AdMob, which collect device-level data as described below.
Buying Gamepad Tester Pro removes ads, which stops the advertising SDKs from requesting or showing ads for you.
This table matches our Google Play Data safety declaration. Everything in it is sent over encrypted (HTTPS) connections.
| Data type | Collected by | Shared with third parties | Purpose |

| App interactions (which screens and tests you open, ad impressions and clicks) | Firebase, AppLovin, Google AdMob | Yes — advertising partners | Advertising, analytics, fraud prevention |
| Crash logs | AppLovin, Google AdMob | Yes — advertising partners | Advertising, analytics, fraud prevention |
| Diagnostics (device model, Android version, app version, performance data) | Firebase, AppLovin, Google AdMob | Yes — advertising partners | Advertising, analytics, fraud prevention |
| Phone number | Advertising SDKs (see §4) | Yes — advertising partners | Advertising, fraud prevention |
| Purchase history (whether a Pro purchase succeeded, was cancelled or failed) | Google Play Billing, Firebase | No | App functionality, analytics |
We do not collect your name, email address (unless you email us), contacts, photos, files, precise location, installed-app list, or the input you generate on your controller.
| What | Details |
|---|---|
| Controller input | Button presses, stick and trigger positions, motion sensor and touchpad readings are processed in real time on your phone to draw the test screens. They are not recorded or uploaded. |
| Controller details | Name, vendor ID and product ID of connected controllers are read from Android to show device information and to match test history. They are not sent to analytics or ad partners. |
| Test history | Results of full tests are saved in a local database inside the app's private storage. |
| Settings | Theme, language, onboarding state, rating-prompt and ad-frequency counters. |
| Other apps | The app may check whether one specific app from the same developer is already installed, only to decide whether to show a promotion card. This check happens on the device and the result is not uploaded. |
We use Firebase Analytics to understand which features are used, so we know what to improve. The app logs events such as opening a test, opening the FAQ, and purchase results, together with the data Firebase collects automatically (app instance ID, device model, Android version, app version, and approximate country or region derived from IP address). Firebase Remote Config lets us adjust settings such as promotions without an app update, and Firebase Cloud Messaging lets the app receive notifications. Google processes this data as our service provider under the Firebase privacy terms. Google Analytics event data is retained for no longer than 14 months.
Gamepad Tester Pro is a one-time purchase processed entirely by Google Play. We never see your payment card or billing details. The app receives purchase status and an order reference from Google Play to unlock Pro features, and logs whether a purchase attempt succeeded, was cancelled or failed.
The app may ask Google Play to show its rating card. Your rating and review go to Google Play, not to us, and the app is not told whether you submitted one.
The free version shows ads served through AppLovin MAX, which mediates ads from AppLovin and Google AdMob. To serve, measure and protect ads against fraud, these SDKs collect and share with their own advertising partners: your Android advertising ID, device and network information, IP address and the approximate location derived from it, ad interactions, and crash and performance data. The SDKs may also use Android's Privacy Sandbox APIs (Topics, attribution) where available.
Gamepad Tester itself does not request any phone or contacts permission and never reads your phone number. Because advertising SDKs can change what they process through remote configuration, we declare “phone number” in our Data safety section as a precaution.
Our default privacy settings: in regions where consent for personalized ads is required (such as the EEA and UK), the app tells AppLovin that consent has not been given. For all users the app sets AppLovin's “do not sell” flag, as described in the California Consumer Privacy Act.
How to limit advertising data:
Privacy policies of our ad partners: AppLovin, Google Ads.
| Permission | Purpose |
|---|---|
INTERNETACCESS_NETWORK_STATEACCESS_WIFI_STATE | Loading ads, analytics, Remote Config and purchases. Network state lets the SDKs check connectivity before a request. |
BLUETOOTH | Legacy permission for older Android versions, related to working with Bluetooth controllers. The app does not scan for or connect to Bluetooth devices itself; pairing is done in Android settings. |
VIBRATE | Vibration and rumble tests. |
POST_NOTIFICATIONScom.google.android.c2dm.permission.RECEIVE | Receiving notifications through Firebase Cloud Messaging. You can deny or turn off notifications at any time. |
FOREGROUND_SERVICEWAKE_LOCK | Declared by the included Android and Firebase libraries (WorkManager, Cloud Messaging) for short background work such as delivering scheduled tasks and messages. |
com.android.vending.BILLINGcom.android.vending.CHECK_LICENSE | BILLING is used for the in-app purchase of Pro. CHECK_LICENSE is declared by the AppLovin SDK. |
com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID | Lets the advertising and analytics SDKs read the Android advertising ID. |
ACCESS_ADSERVICES_AD_IDACCESS_ADSERVICES_ATTRIBUTIONACCESS_ADSERVICES_TOPICS | Android Privacy Sandbox APIs used by the Google advertising SDK for ad measurement and interest-based ads. |
BIND_GET_INSTALL_REFERRER_SERVICE | Lets Firebase read the Google Play install referrer, to attribute how the app was found. |
The app does not request location, camera, microphone, contacts, phone, SMS or storage permissions.
If Android backup is enabled on your device, the app's local settings and test history may be included in your personal Google account backup. That backup is controlled by you and Google; we have no access to it. You can turn it off in Settings → Google → Backup.
We do not run our own servers and do not keep a user database. Data held by Firebase is retained according to Google's retention controls (analytics event data for up to 14 months). Advertising partners retain data under their own policies.
To request deletion, email simplelifefirst@gmail.com with the subject “Data deletion”. We will delete the analytics data we can link to your request and reply within 30 days. Because the app has no account, we may ask for details that help identify your installation. You can also:
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EU/UK or the CCPA/CPRA in California), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or port your personal data, to object to or restrict processing, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal data for targeted advertising. To exercise any of these rights, email us. We do not sell personal data for money; the app sets AppLovin's “do not sell” flag for all users, and you can further limit ad data as described in §4.
Google, AppLovin and their partners may process data in the United States and other countries where they operate, under their own safeguards for international transfers.
Gamepad Tester is a hardware testing tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided data through the app, contact us and we will delete what we can.
All data collected by the included SDKs is transmitted over encrypted connections. Local data is kept in the app's private storage, which other apps cannot read. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
When this policy changes, the effective date at the top changes and the new version is published at the same address. Significant changes, such as adding a new kind of data collection, will also be mentioned in the app's release notes.
