In short: JoyLink turns your phone into a Bluetooth gamepad, touchpad and remote. Everything you press or type travels only over Bluetooth to the device you paired with. We do not run any servers, and we never see your inputs, your paired devices or your precise location. The only data that leaves your phone is usage analytics collected through Google's Firebase SDK (listed below) and, if you buy Pro, a purchase handled by Google Play. We do not sell or share this data with third parties for their own purposes.
This table matches the Data safety section of our Google Play listing. All of this data is encrypted in transit, is required for the Application to work (it cannot be turned off inside the Application), and is not shared with third parties.
| Data type | What exactly | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| App interactions | Which modes and screens are opened, taps on the Pro upgrade screen, FAQ items expanded | Analytics |
| Diagnostics | Device manufacturer, model and code name, Android and firmware version, Application version, Bluetooth gamepad compatibility check result | Analytics |
| Device or other IDs | Firebase app instance ID and installation ID; the Android advertising ID where your Device settings allow it | Analytics, App functionality |
| Approximate location | Country and region derived by Google from your IP address (the IP address itself is not stored by Firebase) | Analytics |
| Purchase history | Whether a Pro purchase succeeded, was cancelled or failed, and which product was bought (no payment details) | App functionality, Analytics |
For the purposes of this Privacy Policy:
The Application requires the Nearby devices permission (Bluetooth) to do its one job: register your phone as a Bluetooth input device, list the devices you have already paired in Android settings, and connect to the Host you choose. The names and Bluetooth addresses of your paired devices are read from the system, shown to you inside the Application and, for convenience, the most recently used Host is remembered on your Device. This information is processed and stored locally only. It is never uploaded to us or to anyone else.
Button presses, stick movements, touchpad gestures, remote-control keys and any text you type in keyboard mode are sent directly over Bluetooth to the Host you are connected to, exactly like a physical gamepad or keyboard would. The Application does not record, store, log or transmit these inputs anywhere else. Optional features such as macros and custom layouts are saved only on your Device.
The racing-wheel mode reads your Device's accelerometer and gyroscope to turn tilting into steering. Sensor readings are used in real time, are not stored, and never leave your Device.
Vibration is used only for optional button feedback. It involves no data collection and can be turned off in the Application's settings.
To understand which phones can act as a Bluetooth gamepad (a capability that some manufacturers disable in their firmware), we automatically collect:
This information is technical and is sent through Firebase Analytics (see below). It is used solely to improve compatibility and to inform which devices the Application is offered to on Google Play.
We use Firebase Analytics, provided by Google, to understand how the Application is used. The Firebase SDK collects:
We also use Firebase Remote Config to adjust a small number of settings (such as the length of a limited-time offer) without releasing a new version. Remote Config uses the Firebase installation ID to deliver these settings. For details about Firebase data collection, please refer to the Firebase Privacy Policy.
The Application offers an optional one-time purchase ("JoyLink Pro") through Google Play Billing. The purchase is processed entirely by Google. We never receive your payment details, card number or billing address. The Application stores only a local flag indicating that Pro is unlocked, and verifies it against your Google Play purchase history when the Application starts. To understand how the upgrade screen performs, the Application also sends Firebase Analytics an event when a purchase succeeds, is cancelled or fails, together with the product that was chosen. See the Google Privacy Policy for how Google handles payment information.
We use the collected information solely for the following purposes:
Local storage: Your settings, custom layouts, macros, remembered Host and the Pro unlock flag are stored on your Device only. We do not operate any server of our own and do not upload this data anywhere.
Android backup: Android may include the Application's settings in your Google account backup so that they can be restored on a new Device. This is controlled by your Device's backup settings and by Google's Privacy Policy. The compatibility check result is excluded from backup because it is specific to one Device.
Encryption: All data sent by the Application over the internet is encrypted in transit (HTTPS).
No data sharing: We do not share, sell or transfer your Personal Data to any third parties. The only third party that processes data is Google (Firebase Analytics, Remote Config, Google Play Billing), acting as a service provider on our behalf as described above.
If you contact us for support, the Application can prefill an email with your Device model, Android version, Application version and – on the compatibility page – the result of the Bluetooth gamepad check. Sending it is entirely voluntary. We use this information only to diagnose your issue and delete it once the support case is resolved. You can ask us to delete it at any time.
The Application is intended for adults aged 18 and over. It is not directed at children or minors, and we do not knowingly collect Personal Data from anyone under 18. If you believe someone under 18 has provided us with Personal Data, please contact us and we will delete it.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of changes by publishing the new version inside the Application and updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or need technical support, you can contact us:
Summary: JoyLink respects your privacy. Your inputs go straight to the device you paired with over Bluetooth and nowhere else. We collect only usage analytics and technical device information through Firebase to improve compatibility, we never sell or share it, purchases are handled by Google Play, and everything you configure stays on your phone.
