Maya Angelou
bragged about a "phenomenal woman"
so that's what i wanted to be.
She said "Still I Rise" so through my storms i
struggled free.
She Screamed "I Know Why the Cage Bird Sing"
and I cried finally someone understands me.
Her words were music to my lost soul
they unwrapped my pain and made me whole.
I wrote when i could not speak
in order to let my secrets leak
I was that tree standing by the still waters
But Her poems they moved me,
they inspired me and uprooted me.
Into a better me
A phenomenal me.
She made written words talk and dance
and inspired us all to give life a fighting chance
In my eyes Maya Angelou is the best
And i pray her Legacy never rest,
