For the best view of old town in the Port of Hvar, head all the way up to the Spanish fortress. This medieval castle occupies the site of an ancient Illyrian settlement dating from before 500 BC.
The views looking down over Hvar and nearby islands are magnificent and make you realize how densely populated this city actually is.
